In which industry grain colour sorter is used?
It is not easy to sort the products in industries. Manual sorting is time-consuming and often gives inconsistent results. To save time and money, colour sorting machines are being used in industries, especially for bulk food processing.
Sorting grain for food processing can be a challenging task. While there are many traditional methods, they don’t deliver high results consistently and within time. Grain colour sorter separates the item based colour. It detects the colours of things that pass into. With the use of mechanical or pneumatic ejection devices diverts the item that does not fall within the range.
Colour sorter in the grain industry
Colour sorting machines are widely used for agricultural products. The rice sorting industry is one of the biggest markets. With the use of a high-resolution CCD optical sensor, stones and black rice, etc. is separated from rice materials. This is the final step after the rice is polished with a rice polisher.
The second popular market where colour sorter is used is cereals such as wheat, corn, peanut, beans, sesame seeds, etc. The sorting machine improves product quality.
Colour sorter in the food industry
Colour sorters are used in food processing industry such as coffee, nuts and oil crops. It helps in separating discoloured and toxic items. This saves a lot of time, money and labour. The efficiency also increases and the cost of processing is low.
Various types of grain colour sorters are available in South East-
Belt-type
This breaks the smaller amount of material and product remains static during transportation because the belt moves horizontally. This makes the transmission smooth and stable.
Chute-type
The material slips into the chute because of gravity that causes collision, friction and large vertical movements. The ratio of broken material is a little higher. It is used for food due to the low prices where capacity is high and products can be seen from both sides.
This is meant for specific products because chute is designed with special channels based on the sizes and shapes of material.
Rice colour sorting machine
A rice colour sorter separates rice grains based on colour differences in raw rice. It separates the different granular materials from raw rice by removing the impurities and improving the quality.
The processing of rice starts in milling plant where harvested grains go through a production line. The rice is boiled, dried, de-stoned, husked, hulled and shelled. Then, it is moved into the colour sorting machine.
The rice mixture passes by elevator belt into a hopper on the top of the machine. It flows down along the chutes in the colour sorter. The process is scanned by CCD sensors.
If any colour defect is detected, the camera instructs the ejectors fitted in the machine for opening the nozzle. The nozzle is connected to valves that contain compressed air that removes the defected material.
There are 2 types of rice colour sorting machines-
Optical
CCD
The main purpose of the machine is to identify the colour difference between the good and bad rice, no matter whichever type you use.
Grain colour sorter uses the technology and light to remove the bad grains from the input based on colour instead of weight or size. These are equipped with several features such as automatic sorting system, image capturing etc. Choose the colour sorting machine as per the requirements and needs.
